A personal portrait story

A client’s daughter reached out to commission a portrait as a birthday gift for her father. She selected a cherished photograph, and together we planned the painting. I recommended working on wooden boards, which her father prefers.

Oil portraits take longer to complete than acrylic paintings due to drying times and although the gift wasn’t ready in time for the birthday, progress photographs were shared. The anticipation itself became part of the gift. The finished portrait now stands as a lasting treasure, embodying the thoughtful choices made at each stage.
