Horizons open up a narrow landing
A gentle mural that unfolds like memory. Soft dusk settles over a Mediterranean horizon, deep night gathers in indigo, dawn carries the hush of a quiet jungle, and midday blossoms into warm spring light. The atmosphere changes as you move — each wall meets the next in a slow, continuous breath.
The entire landing, including its shaped and sloping ceiling, was painted as one living space. In this 17th-century cottage, every surface became part of the view — a way to expand the sense of light, height, and air, even within a narrow passage. Surrounded by shifting skies and open landscapes, the room feels quietly larger than itself.
A calm space between rooms, held open by light and a view that never hurries.

The Lagoon—The Quiet Heart of the Corridor
This section of the mural was painted last, after the light of the landscapes and the rhythm of the trees had found their balance. It arrived almost on its own — a still inlet of soft blue-green, distant forest dissolving into air and reeds that rise as gently as breath.
It was the moment where the space exhaled.
A place to rest between rooms. A view that does not insist.
The Lagoon held the quiet centre of the landing — a tenderness that didn’t need to be announced, only encountered.

Luminous & lustre—silver wall art
Silver has a unique presence in interiors—it reflects light softly, creating luminosity and a sense of quiet drama. Even a simpler application can transform a wall into a living surface that shifts with the day, offering intrigue without ostentation.
For those seeking something more expressive, silver combines beautifully with soft colour glazes or abstract motifs, resulting in painterly designs that feel modern and timeless. The effect is subtle yet striking—like jewellery for a room—adding atmosphere, sensuality and a touch of mystery to homes and offices alike.

Koi Brings Joy—A Mural Transforms a Bath Into a Spa
Lotus flowers and koi fish float gracefully across the walls, filling the bath with serenity and joy.

This hand-painted space truly embodies tranquility as watercolour hues blend seamlessly into softly coloured walls and ceilings
In this room, all walls—including the vaulted ceiling—are painted in a soft beige with delicate rose undertones. The background color was custom mixed to perfectly complement the space’s unique lighting. While finding the ideal hue may take time, the final result proves the effort was well worth it.
"Tip: If you have high or vaulted ceilings, consider painting all the walls the same colour—an approach called colour drenching. This technique creates a sense of endless space, calm, and serenity."

Murals Too Expansive for One Photograph
These panoramas can’t be captured in a single frame—and that is precisely their magic. Panorama murals are my speciality. There’s a wonderful freedom in painting across expansive surfaces, letting creativity stretch as far as the eye can see. Traditional perspective, which usually draws the viewer into a painting, takes on a new role in this immersive context.

A wonderful art project with patients enthusiastically participating:
I was initially scheduled to paint only on weekends and after office hours, as both the staff and I were concerned that paint odours might irritate sensitive patients—despite using the best and most environmentally friendly paints available.
However, those worries soon proved unfounded. The patients thoroughly enjoyed watching the mural come to life, many even sharing ideas to enhance the panorama.
One patient asked me to include glimpses of his favourite hiking path within the scenery. Another, who cared deeply for a group of cacti in his garden, inspired the placement of cacti in a quiet corner near the cooling rocks.
But the involvement didn’t end with the patients. I learned from the group’s physicist about the remarkable way a pond’s water transitions to reflect the sky above. In short, everyone engaged wholeheartedly in the process, and I couldn’t have wished for a better outcome.

Fooling Your Eyes Is Quite Fun!
A gothic entrance trompe-l’oeil mural adds visual dimension just as the French term "trompe- l'oeil"—meaning ‘to fool the eye’—promises, creating magical illusions that open up your wall.

A gothic entrance
I designed and painted this trompe-l’œil gothic arch hall in Château Thal, Belgium, where I studied mural art in Wallonia. It was the first mural I designed and painted entirely by myself—and I remain very proud of the result.
All four walls of the castle’s grand entrance were adorned with these arches. In Belgium, I received formal training as a mural painter, specialising in trompe-l’œil and architectural painting. This project took place around 1989 and took several weeks to complete.

No brick-and-mortar business: sandstone paintings.
Real sandstone is simply beautiful—and so is a carefully hand-painted version. Soft hues of beige, with delicate touches of rose, can breathe new life into otherwise plain surfaces.

Trompe l'oeil makes use of light and shadow paint application. If applied correctly the the object will stand out beautifully.
The hand-painted heraldic shield surrounding the lion rampant
At the heart of the original Tudor mansion stands a heraldic sign, prominently featuring the illustrious lion rampant, a symbol of courage and nobility. This emblem serves as a striking visual centrepiece and reflects the rich history and tradition that characterise the building. As clients and guests approach, they are greeted by this distinguished symbol, evoking a sense of grandeur and timelessness.
It was requested that the red lion stand out against the blue surface. This proved to be a challenging task, as the red and blue colours are very close in value, resulting in insufficient contrast for the lion to be prominent. I could hardly repaint the colour of the house and the crest traditionally features a red lion.
While working on the scaffold, I noticed an uneven plaster surface and discovered remnants of a heraldic sign, lost through generations of renovations.
I decided to revive the lost shield by painting it white, which beautifully complemented the treasured lion and matched the crisp white of the windows and roof trim. Additionally, I added blue accents to the lily, tongue and claws. Since the original shield was made of plaster, I incorporated shadows into the sign to give it a three-dimensional appearance, a technique known as "trompe-l'oeil". The choice to use a trompe l'oeil style crest for the lion created a clean and bold impact for this Tudor place.
Spanish vistas: a showroom for mediterranean tiles received a make-over with a wraparound mural, featuring views from a moorish palace terrace.

Bring Back Memories of New Zealand
This panoramic mural fills the wall of a newly built hydrotherapy area, reviving memories of the owners’ days in New Zealand.

The journey to creating this New Zealand mural panorama was quite an adventure
The owners hired me to paint their walls with a graphic zigzag pattern inspired by a design from a print-and-paste wallpaper company. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, the company was unable to create images of such length in the desired graphic layout, as the wall measures over 8 metres long.
As we sketched and discussed the project, it became clear that the owners preferred a more painterly approach. So we gradually added detail after detail until a stunning scene was born.
During the painting process, we had a lot of fun. I learned about their adventures in New Zealand, and honestly, found myself tempted to book a plane ticket and visit myself! The owner even played New Zealand bird sounds and songs to help set the mood, while we all imagined kayaking into the next cove.
My painting days concluded with a final brushstroke that not only included the family members but also depicted their beloved dog running along the beach beside them.

My painting days started with a lovely cup of coffee!
